About us

Valnalón, a place to develop companies since 1987.

The Ciudad Industrial del Valle del Nalón, S.A.U. (VALNALÓN), , dependent on the Consejería de Industria y Empleo (Industry and Employment Department) of the Principality of Asturias, is a management society set up in 1987. At the time of its creation, the main aim of VALNALóN was to create and put forward a project of enterprise regeneration, promotion and dynamization in Nalón River Basin. For this aim to be fulfilled, the land and some of the emblematic buildings of Duro Felguera steelworks were used. Steelworks ownership was transferred to ENSIDESA in 1967 and finally the plant was closed in 1984.

Throughout this time, our main scope has changed from developing infrastructures (Business Centre, Industrial Estate, Training Centre, etc) to being involved in changing the society´s idiosyncrasy, from a subsidy based culture to the present day´s Entrepreneurial Culture.

The concept of INDUSTRIAL CITY, which was a novelty during the 80s and the 90s, has evolved to a new one- TECHNOLOGICAL CITY. This change was pushed forward by the sudden appearance of new technology companies, connected with information and communication.

In 1993, with the support of the Government of the Principality of Asturias, the Cadena de Formación de Emprendedores(Training Program for Entrepreneurship) was created. This training programme follows a chain-like pattern and is formed by several steps, divided in two distinct fronts: education, which nurtures the entrepreneurial values; and a second step on charge of supporting the creation and consolidation of companies.

The educational step fulfills the necessity to promote an entrepreneurial attitude and culture among young people in Asturias. Nowadays, if a worker wants to have success in his profession, he must take full advantage of his skills. The development of certain abilities, the knowledge acquired and his attitude will give him the required competence to fit the new qualities required for a professional.

The support for the creation and consolidation of companies keeps being a cornerstone of our activity, since our creation in 1987.

Nowadays, we undertake several projects with clearly set aims: promoting an entreprising culture as a previous step to reach an entrepreneurial society, and boosting the creation and consolidation of companies.

The services of Valnalón are offered to the whole society, and affects each and every one of its strata, since each social class is implied or should be implied in the project of development of the Enterpreneurial culture.

In 2004 the CADENA DE FORMACIÓN DE EMPRENDEDORES (Training Programme for Entrepreneurship) has been included in the PROGRAMA DE FOMENTO DE LA CULTURA EMPRENDEDORA (Nurture of Entrepreneurial Culture Program), as one of the axes of the Agreement between the Government of the Principality of Asturias and the Social Agents. Initially, this agreement, named ACUERDO PARA EL DESARROLLO ECONÓMICO , LA COMPETITIVIDAD Y EL EMPLEO- ADECE (Agreement for the Economic Development, Competence and Work), has been signed for a period of three years, comprehended from 2004-20007. With the end of this period, a new three-year agreement (2008-2011) was signed, named ACUERDO PARA LA COMPETITIVIDAD, EL EMPLEO Y EL BIENESTAR DE ASTURIAS-ACEBA ( Agreement on the Competitiveness, Employment and Welfare of Asturias)

We are still working in the CADENA DE FORMACIóN DE EMPRENDEDORES (Training Programme for Entrepreneurship)because we think that if it is important to create, it is vital to consolidate. To achieve this goal we have several support tools for entrepreneurism:Project Seedbed (Pre-incubator), Business Centre, Industrial Estates y Plant Promotions.
